[1]

Three quarters into You Shi [5 to 7 p.m.], 6:30 p.m.

Tang Xun sat on top of a peach blossom tree. He was wiping his Qianji Box [weapon]. His pair of clear and bright peach blossom eyes looked at the pedestrian walkway under the peach blossom tree from time to time. He was originally monitoring his target’s daily habits on this peach blossom tree, but now, his target was dead. The originally budding peach blossom tree had bloomed. Yet, he still didn’t want to report back to Tang Sect, because —

A righteous sect’s disciple came over from an alley. A few wisps of golden curls were revealed under his white hat. He had a high and straight nose above his beautiful thin lips.

Tang Xun immediately straightened his back. He greedily watched the righteous sect’s disciple’s every movement.

He would pass by here every day. Every time he walked past the peach blossom tree, he would raise his head to look up at the peach blossoms.

Tang Xun knew this.

So, in the instant that the righteous sect’s disciple raised his head, Tang Xun quickly turned his head to look up at the sky with a face of indifference.

However, the hand that was holding his Qianji Box had exuded fine sweat.

[2]

One time, every day.

Three quarters into You Shi [5 to 7 p.m.], at 6:30 p.m., at dusk, the setting sun shone and made everything warm.

[3]

The righteous sect’s disciple was a bit strange.

He had some strange things in his hands when he passed by every day.

He sometimes played with a ring of Tang Sect’s peacock feathers. Sometimes he carefully carried a pot of Sichuan poached fish in chili oil. Tang Xun didn’t know whom he was bringing it home for. Sometimes he carried a brand new wooden stake. Once, he even held a panda cub with a bunch of green bamboo under his arm.

Tang Xun found him very interesting.

Tang Xun thought that perhaps, he took these things somewhere or maybe he had a lover from Tang Sect.

His lover gave him the ring of peacock feathers. His lover liked spicy foods. His lover liked practicing martial arts with a wooden stake. His lover liked pandas.

The more Tan Xun thought, the unhappier he was.

Tang Xun decided that he would return to Tang Sect when the peach blossoms withered.

That was because when the peach blossoms withered, the righteous sect’s disciple would not look up at the peach blossoms when he passed by anymore. He naturally also would not see Tang Xun’s figure silhouetted against the sky.

Their only affinity would be broken.

[4]

It rained heavily last night.

Three quarters into You Shi [5 to 7 p.m.], at 6:30 p.m, when Tang Xun arrived, he found to his disappointment that the peach blossoms on the tree had been blown away by last night’s storm. Only a few scattered residual flowers remained. It looked like they probably wouldn’t last another night.

Tang Xun sighed. He propped his hand on his cheek as he sat on top of the peach blossom tree. He waited to see that righteous sect’s disciple one last time.

The righteous sect’s disciple appeared. Today, a snow-white Persian cat crouched on top of his shoulder.

Tang Xun slightly smiled. He thought that this ending wasn’t bad.

However, when the righteous sect’s disciple passed by the peach blossom tree, the Persian cat suddenly jumped off. It nimbly ran up the tree and into Tang Xun’s arms. Then it rubbed with satisfaction against Tang Xun’s chest. The cat’s eyes contained unspeakable cunning and intelligence.

Tang Xun was stunned.

The righteous sect’s disciple raised his head. He lifted his hat at an angle and revealed a pair of eyes as intelligent as the cat’s. He faintly smiled as he said, “My cat.”

[5]

I like someone. He sits on top of a peach blossom tree every day, looking at the sky.

He looks at the sky. I look at him.

[6]

I walked by with a ring of peacock feathers today, hinting that I liked Tang Sect.

But he kept looking at the sky.

How hateful.

[7]

I walked by with a pot of Sichuan poached fish in chili oil today, hinting that he should come down and eat it with me.

But he was still looking at the sky.

How hateful. How hateful.

[8]

I walked by with a wooden stake today. I heard that Tang Sect members would pounce over as soon as they saw a wooden stake.

But he was always looking at the sky.

How hateful. How hateful. How hateful.

[9]

I walked by carrying a panda today. I would succeed today. I wanted to bring him back to the Western Regions.

But he was actually still looking at the sky today.

How hateful. How hateful. How hateful. How hateful.

[10]

I walked by with Taotao, which had been trained many times before, today. Taotao completed the mission successfully.

Heavens above! I was about to marry a wife!

I calmly controlled myself and revealed my most handsome smile.

[11]

Three quarters into You Shi [5 to 7 p.m.], at 6:30 p.m., at dusk, the setting sun shone and made everything warm.

THE END
